NCI featured in the Generations Journal from the American Society on Aging

Apr 10th, 2026

We recently authored three article about NCI-AD in the Generations Journal from the American Society on Aging.

The first article, "Ten Years of NCI-AD" explores the history of NCI-AD and our work to create standardized, person-centered surveys to hear directly from people using long-term services and supports. The article provides a snapshot into selected outcomes related to quality of life, access, choice, and workforce stability. Check out the story below!

The second article, "Older Americans Act Revisions: Enhancing Community Supports for HCBS" focuses on how the NCI-AD can be used to monitor Older Americans Act programs. Several states that participate in NCI-AD are working to hear from OAA users, and are learning that these users often have difference experiences with services than other NCI-AD respondents. This article showcases how the data can be used to identify areas to strengthen supports for older americans.

Finally, as part of our continuing effort to understand the experiences of people using paid and unpaid family caregiving, we wrote a third article, "Person-Centered Supports for Older Adults: How Paid Family Caregiving Measures Up." These data illustrate the value of paid family caregiving among older adults and can inform evidence-based strategies to enhance access to paid family caregiving across the US.
